Future Technology
One aspect of future technology that I am excited and very hopeful about is the creation and use of prosthetics in the medical field. So many lives can be saved and made better with this emerging technology. Everyone from veterans, accident survivors to birth defects can greatly benefit from these medical advancements. Biomechanical body parts can be created using nano technology and advanced AI software. The complexity of each body part made will depend on the user and how it needs to function. There will not be a cookie cutter template for all the designs to fall under. I also see some of the future tech will be hard to be FDA authorized given the complexity and unknow effects. Engineers from all fields have a role to play in the creation of these devices. Scientists have the ability now to create 3-D models to create exactly how a leg for example, will have the finest movements and how it will look. Which is far beyond the minds of ancient civilizations who created appendages out of wood, leather, and other materials available to them at the time.
Current day devices are made from many different elements with a complexity of structures. Many you would need a microscope to see. Computer chips, precision soldering, and complete understanding of how specific body joints are supposed to move will all fall into place when creating these devices. These medical devices are made for the public on a very wide price scale. Anyone with a need of an arm, leg or eye can go through medical channels to receive such medical device Some insurance companies cover costs of basic equipment but if the client wants something complex, then it can be very pricey.
Potential dangers would include our bodies natural system attacking the device if implanted. Non-naturally accruing substances being introduced to our bodies may have long lasting effects. These studies will take years to acquire data needed for such research. People, in general, have always been supportive of a person making their lives easier. Accepting these new technologies will eventually boil down to an ethics debate. More people will willingly go under the knife without a medical reason to be faster, gain better control, and many more reasons.
