About Me

Hello all, my name is Rebecca Patterson and I am 30 years old. I am a student at COTC majoring in Digital Media Design with the Graphic Design Option. I am a mother of four wonderful kids, Makala 12, Addison 10, Brooklyn 8, and Lucas 6. My boyfriend/ex-husband (long story) bought our first house this past December. We have two dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon and 6 little chickens. I am the Dive Captain of my water rescue squad. I have been a volunteer with my search and rescue group for over five years. We have continuous training and education guidelines set forth by the government. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization. Aside from that I enjoy kayaking, fishing, riding four-wheelers, building trucks/motors and softball with my kids. We love anything outdoors, with any season. We are a busy family with bright futures ahead. My oldest daughter loves scuba diving as much as I do. She recently completed her first certification course and currently in Florida scuba diving with her grandma.
I started my own graphic design business in 2014, and back then it was just a side hustle. I have always been creative and loved art. I would make projects/designs for people in my spare time. When I was no longer able to work I decided what the hell, I’ll build it back up and make it my primary income. I now have clients all over the country. I could not imagine working a typical work day now, I love my freedom too much. I can work from virtually anywhere as well as complete my school work.
In the beginning of 2020 I was diagnosed with colon cancer after I had been sick for months and off work. I had to fight with the doctors and kept trying to find one that would actually listen. All the different medicines I had to take, most of which made everything worse. I decided to return to school for something beneficial to do. I was starting to feel better for most of the year but started to get really sick again. October of 2021 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer as well. I still never let it slow me down. My second semester back to school, I was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, for obtaining and holding a 3.5 or higher GPA. All the doctors appointments and surgeries I kept looking forward. Skipping to current day, I found out this month I am officially cancer free. It was defiantly not an easy battle, fighting two different cancers. I am more determined than ever to achieve the high goals I have set for myself. I had to fight not only cancer but the doctors as well, but I WON!
