What’s Next – Future Tech Review

I am here to break down and explain a piece of “future tech” called VR (Virtual Reality). A VR headset includes a display screen, lenses, sound speakers, head and eye motion detection sensors or cameras, some come with controllers or something of that source to use the VR content. according to roadtovr.com the hardware and software used for VR are as follows: “Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480 or greater. CPU: Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or greater. Memory: 8GB RAM or greater. Video Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output”. In 1968 Ivan Sutherland and Bob Sproul (Ivan’s student) created the first ever VR/AR head display.

VR offers an escape from reality You can go to a real place virtually to get an experience like real life, however, you can also escape into imaginary and creative places that you can only dream of. What comes with all of these great features and ideas comes some physical side effects. common symptoms of using VR iclude headaches, nausea, and eyestrain. headaches and nausea are symptoms of motion sickness which can be solved by the way the content is designed.

Widespread adoption of this Virtual Reality technology can impact society in so many different ways, one of the ways would be that it can help mental health. Your mental health is very important and I feel that escaping into Virtual Reality and escaping the struggles and pain that can be in the real world can be huge for society. I would definitely say that Virtual Reality is nowhere near perfect, however, I do feel that the positives far outweigh the negatives with this tech.

Mobile Apps

Today I am going to take an in-depth look into a couple of mobile apps and hopefully answer some questions you may have about them. The first app that I have chosen is Instagram. According to “Investopedia.com”, Instagram was officially created on October 6th 2010. It took only 8 weeks to develop before it was launched. According to “blog.hootsuite.com” “the majority of Instagram’s audience are Millennial or Gen Z users”, that being said I would say that is the target audience of Instagram to this point.

Using another article from Investopedia.com called “How Instagram makes money”, it says that Instagram’s publishers receive revenue from advertisements and is now believed to have higher revenue growth than its parent company ‘Facebook’ which is a big deal because Facebook was created in February of 2004, over 6 years before Instagram was created. Instagram is becoming very video heavy because that is what culture has turned to at this point. That being said, a word of advice from me on if you want to grow a big following on Instagram would be to make videos consistently and keep up with trends. I f you are behind on trends or not making any videos, it is almost impossible to grow a following on Instagram, as social media such as Instagram evolve so must we if we want to stay culturally relevant.

The other mobile app that I have chosen is BeReal. according to “what is BeReal-and why is it exploding in popularity” from tomsguide.com, BeReal was released to the public just as recently as 2020, however, it has just became popular worldwide as of 2022. The target audience of BeReal is anybody from ages 16-45. hardly anybody over 45 uses the app according to “businessofapps.com BeReal Revenue and Usage Statistics” which makes sence as the older generations would probably not get the point and idea of BeReal. BeReal currently has zero revenue streams so they are not currently making any money. Now according to techcrunch.com, they are considering “paid features in lieu of advertising” which would honestly be the smart move so they can make some profit from there populat app. The purpose of BeReal is simple, you’re supposed to be real. it forces you to wherever you are at, whatever you are doing to post two photes in the matter of two minutes, trying to encourage you to show your genuine self unlike other social media apps.

Research Assignment

In this research assignment I am going to be answering questions about the world wide web, and its evolution and expansion over the past few years.  Do more people access the web using computers or mobile devices? according to the author of research, com’s mobile vs. desktop article, “in 2019, 58% of the total web traffic came from mobile users”. who controls the world wide web? What is it made out of? according to multiple different sources, like, “Who controls the internet”(gardians.com) as well as, “who controls the world wide web”(thehindu.com), the organization that seems to have the bulk of the control of the web is ICANN, “the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers”. According to many sources most obviously from the author at Britannica, the world wide web is made of three major ingredients, URL, HTTP, and HTML. All of these things, along with many more are the reason we have the web as we know it today. Who is Tim Berners-Lee and what is he most known for? Tim Berners-Lee is the inventor of the internet. He created the world wide web in 1989. What is a Blog? What is it used for? A blog to me  and to some people, is basically a less personal, public diary entry with information coming at you left and right. What is a “responsive” website design? according to Nielson Norman Group’s article regarding this web design, “Responsive web design (RWD) is a web development approach that creates dynamic changes to the appearance of a website, depending on the screen size and orientation of the device being used to view it”. Why are “responsive” website designs necessary. they are necessary because they overall make the website experience easier for the user. What is SEO, and why should website owners/managers be concerned with SEO? SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”. Having a good SEO means that your website is visible and easy to access and fond online. What is dynamic content? There is a great definition from omniconvert.com, describing dynamic content, “Dynamic content (aka adaptive content) refers to web content that changes based on the behavior, preferences, and interests of the user. It refers to websites as well as e-mail content and is generated at the moment a user requests a page. Dynamic content is personalized and adapts based on the data you have about the user and on the access time, its goal being to deliver an engaging and satisfying online experience for the visitor”. What is a content management system? I work with one, what is it’s name? “A content management system (CMS) is a software application that enables users to create, edit, collaborate on, publish and store digital content. CMSes are typically used for enterprise content management (ECM) and web content management (WCM).” I am actually not sure what content management system I work with. What is a YouTube channel? Who might want to start one? A YouTube channel is using the YouTube website to past videos about various different things so that millions of people can watch and enjoy. The usual age of a person that starts a YouTube channel would probably be a older teenager. A lot of teenagers feewl the need to be likes and sought after. YouTube is just a fun way to do that.
