The top 3 social media platforms, ranked by MAUs (Monthly Active Users) in terms of 22-23 would be Facebook — 3.03 billion MAUs, YouTube — 2.5 billion MAUs, and WhatsApp — 2 billion MAUs.

Facebook is a social platform used for sharing information in the form of photos, videos, and stories. People usually use facebook to stay up to date on friends’ and family’s lives, without having to be in direct contact with them. YouTube is a platform where people can post videos and short reels, or they can watch the videos and short reels. The people posting can make money off of these videos, and the audience can subscribe to creators they like. They mainly used it for entertainment, however there are some informational uses for it as well. WhatsApp is an app for messaging, mainly friends and family used it to communicate with eachother but now businesses use it to communicate with customers and employees.

A demographic is the characteristics and traits of users who make up a brand or individual’s social media audience. When a company knows the demographics for social media users, can help them target the right audience with their marketing efforts.

The age demographic of Facebook is a majority of 18 to 34 and between men and women, men make up the majority. For YouTube, most people visiting the platform are between the ages of 25-34 and are typically male. Watts app is typically visited by men of the ages of 26-35.

(Source 2) States that YouTube users spend about 48.7 mins a day using the platform. (Source 3) Talks about how, at a worldwide level, a typical user spends about 17.5 hours a day on the platform.

I believe Facebook is growing the fastest. Compared to previous years, facebook has jumped up the charts, and it’s because of its boom in popularity, and I have yet to see a reason for that boom to stop.

Facebook is typically accessed via mobile phone, this is a whopping 97%. For YouTube people usually access this via mobile device as well. Watts App is also typically used via mobile devices.
