Attention faculty!
Many of you are using the quiz function in Canvas, and you’re most likely using what’s known as “Classic Quizzes.” You may have also noticed (or used) “New Quizzes” in Canvas as you’ve been re-building or updating courses from the Great Moodle Migration.
Instructure has recently announced that they will be getting rid of the Classic Quiz architecture over the next year and a half, so we wanted to help you be prepared!
Here is the timeline for their transition out of classic quizzes. (March 2023 is the ultimate end of life, but there are several important milestones between now and then).
You may have additional questions and comments after reading the Classic Quiz Sunsetting Timeline. This post is intended to provide some insight into the Instructure perspective, answer any outstanding questions, discuss any of your concerns and facilitation customer planning.

What do you need to do now?
Thankfully, there is a way to migrate all of your classic quizzes to the New Quiz architecture over the coming year. Here is a link to the step by step instructions for doing so.
We encourage you to get a jump start on this and not wait until next year.
