1. Today, more users still access the web via a PC vs mobile devices, but mobile usage is catching up. According to a 2018 US report, usage is close, with mobile quickly rising. Predictions suggest mobile will soon surpass PC usage in the coming years.

The World Wide Web is a network of links containing files called hypertext, the three main ones being URL (uniform resource locator), HTML (hypertext markup language), and HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol). Who controls it is more complicated. When the Web began, it was governed by a group founded by it’s creator, Tim Berners-Lee but by the 1990’s, it became decentralized. Organizations exist today to govern the DNS system and to help establish a standard globally, but no one entity owns or rules the World Wide Web.
3.Tim Berners-Lee is a developer and the pioneer behind the World Wide Web. Lee created the system of hypertext links of data over the internet for personal use but with time, brought the web to broader and broader audiences. Eventually the World Wide Web became free and accessible for most people with a personal computing device all over the world, ushering in the digital revolution of the 90’s.
4. A blog is an online profile or archive of content either personal or for business use. Blogs consist of posts of personal written works or often sponsored writings talking about a product or business. Blogs in the mid 2000’s and aughts were popular among teens and young adults as ways to keep an online journal of sorts.
5. Responsive web design is the design process of coding a site to look and work well across all devices. With HTML and CSS expertise, developers can add code to recognize the type of device the site is being accessed on and use the style sheet designed for that device.
6. Responsive design is necessary to the web design process because it is important part of the user’s experience. If a user cant get a site to reorient to their mobile device, they will likely be turned off from using said site again and certainly are unlikely to spend money with that company. Accessibility is also of utmost importance when designing.
7. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is a business effort made of multiple methods to maximize the visibility of a company or site by how often and high up they come up in search. Stakeholders should be concerned with SEO because the higher visibility on the web, the more hits, interactions, and ultimately revenue the firm will gain. When it comes to having an online presence as a business, visibility is one of the most valuable metrics to nurture.
8. Dynamic content is web content that moves or changes according to the user’s behavior. This can apply to visuals on the site, suggested content, or events nearby. Dynamic content measure’s the users habits and/or location to personalize and improve user experience.
9. A CMS is a system that holds apps and content and helps create a site with said content for businesses to integrate and access easily. An example of a CMS that we use in this class is WordPress.
10. A youtube channel is a social media video platform where users can upload self-shot content. In recent years, it has been a place for influencers of all types to share their content and make money on views via ad revenue. People who want to create video web content of any kind would certainly want to create a free youtube account.
