Cloud Services Review

The first service I will use is Microsoft 365. This is an application that you can use to create files, documents, presentations, etc. and access them across multiple devices. You can also access them through a web browser. I use it for all of my school assignments and some of my personal projects. I specifically use Microsoft Teams for my team building class since I can access it on my laptop and my phone.

Would this application/system work as well NOT in the cloud?

No this wouldn’t work as well without the cloud because the entire purpose of it is that you can access your work anywhere you are, whenever you need it. If it wasn’t in the cloud, that wouldn’t work.

What are the advantages to having this system on a distributed network?

The biggest advantage is that you can access all of your work, so long as you have it set to automatically upload, anywhere you have access to the application and internet access. I can create a file on my laptop and edit it on my phone when I am out.

Do you have any security or privacy concerns when using this system?

I don’t really have any concerns with this system. I think that with the amount of verification steps that Microsoft makes you go through in order to even sign in to your account from a new device, they are pretty secure with everyone’s information.

The second I will talk about is Facebook. I mainly use this form of social media to stay in contact with some of my distant family. With living so far apart, Facebook helps us still be able to be part of each other’s lives.

Would this application/system work as well NOT in the cloud?

I don’t think this would work without some kind of cloud service. I think that because social media uses your information to find people you may know or topics your interested in, it has to have something to store and organize all of that data efficiently.

What are the advantages to having this system on a distributed network?

One advantage is that you are able to find new topics you would be interested in or new people who are interested in the same stuff as you. Again, since it uses cloud service, it can be accessed anywhere you have an internet connection and a web browser.

Do you have any security or privacy concerns when using this system?

I do have some concerns with this system. I am constantly seeing people get hacked or having duplicate profiles made in the attempt to gather your information. I just don’t really put anything too personal on there simply for my own protection and distrust in people.

Anything else you’d like to share about cloud services

I think cloud services have done a ton in the ways of improving how we work and communicate with each other. It is definitely something that could still be improved, but it’s getting there.
